Understanding Industrial Concerns

When I started working for my parents factory about twenty years ago, I didn't think twice about any of the factory problems. I just figured that we would be able to make things work by taking things day by day, but that only worked for so long. Pretty soon, we found ourselves struggling with things like lawsuits, and I knew that we had to make some changes. We started overhauling our practices and it made a tremendous difference. This blog is here for any business owner that needs to understand and resolve industrial safety concerns--before they harm employees or run your finances into the ground.

How Do I Close My Water Shut Off Valve?

As your room begins to fill with water, your heart begins to fill with dread. Where the heck is that water shut off valve? The fact is that you don't need to panic as there is a process which you can use to find that valve quickly and close it. Once you do, you'll shut off the water and then begin to deal with the problem at hand. You are looking for the main water shut off valve, the one which turns off the water supply which comes to your home from outside. This is the connection to the city water supply, and once it's off, your water issues should subside. That means it has to come into your house from the road, so go to the wall of your home, or basement, which faces the road and look for pipes coming inside. It is there which you will find the valve. There will be one of two types of valve: a gate valve or a ball valve. A gate valve can be hard to turn off, so you should turn it off every year to ensure it isn't stuck in the open position. Note that you are to turn it clockwise to turn it off. To close a ball valve, just turn the handle clockwise for a quarter turn. Now that the water is off, go clean up the mess!
